Welcome to my web page. Come in, grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit down a while. My name is Darla Luke, and I write Romantic Suspense with a Paranormal Edge.
Have you ever wondered, what makes an author put stories into words, actions, emotions down on paper for readers to experience? Well, I can't tell you why other
authors write, but I can tell you why I write. All my life, I've had an over-active imagination and instead of driving myself (and everybody close to me!) crazy with the
'But, what if...', I decided sanity wasn't optional, and had to make it work for me, instead of against me!
One of my favorite things to do is brainstorm. With a lot of help from my friends
(see my links page for a list ... fair warning, it's long!),
we get together to brainstorm every chance we get. It doesn't matter if we're walking on the beach or shopping
at the mall, 'What if...' always gets our imagination into high gear.
Many of my books & short stories have rooted from just such a brainstorming session.
What's New?
I'm dipping my toe into the indie-pubbed arena. What does that mean? I'm putting up a few short stories for sale as
an e-book. If you don't have an e-reader, you can get a freeKindle
or Nook app for your iPad, iPhone, Android, PC or Mac.
The first title is: The Haunted House of Thomas Creek. It's on sale right now at
Smashwords.com, Amazon.com & BarnesandNoble.com for only $1.55! This short story is dear to my heart. The idea came to me while on vacation in California, and combined
with the real-life Thomas Creek house just miles away … a (short) story was born.
Blurb:
Before the Thomas Creek mansion is just a pile of pick-up-sticks, Leanne Robson returns to her small-minded home town to prove that something happened in that
house years ago.
Current owner Byron Thomas shows up, determined to stop Leanne from proving the ghost exists. But they both get more than they bargained for when they uncover a mystery
45 years in the making.
